Yesterdays on the release;
2023 marked the 200th birth anniversary of Petofi Sándor, the most renowned Hungarian poet. In Hungary, a songwriting competition took place with the task of bringing Petofi's writings closer to young people by composing pop songs based on his poems.
After submitting four songs (1-4), three of them won prizes. Oh, what a feeling...
What a challenge it was — a progressive rock band writing pop songs. However, it's worth noting that well-crafted pop songs were also written by bands like Genesis or Yes, so it's not uncommon in the prog world.
Without further ado, we are excited to share these short songs with you. Although they were initially written for the competition, we grew fond of these tunes, prompting us to share them with you.
The fifth song is a bonus, written and performed in memory of our keyboard player, who passed away in 2020 on the 2nd anniversary of his passing. Since this song was originally performed by Vanessza and Ákos as well, it made sense to include it in this EP, which serves as a sort of side project for Yesterdays.
