'They Stay' is a one off 'single' and came about in a flash of inspiration over 2 days. I'd attended a memorial event in London to celebrate the life of my former Big Big Train bandmate David Longdon and on the journey home was reflecting on lost friends.
On the largely empty train from Victoria to Havant, I was transfixed by the beauty of the countryside from the window. I filmed about 10 mins of the journey on my mobile phone, just pressing it up against the window which captured the scenery flying by. This footage later became the video which you can see on YouTube.
The song itself was written very quickly. It's about friends and is dedicated to anyone that has lost a friend for whatever reason....I hope you like it.
