More and more prog albums by new bands are a disappointment to me. Pale copies of 70's bands, post rock, art rock, creative pop... almost anything seems to fit under the ''prog'' umbrella these days. But once in a while an album comes out by a newcomer, something really creative and exceptional... and really progressive.
The Unlikely Event by SJS is one of these rare gems. Great songs, great musicianship, great production. Very modern but also faithfull to the great bands of before.
I can't compare this album to any I have heard before. It is truly ''une oeuvre originale''. Sure you hear hints of Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel, OSI, Big Big Train and even the Bee Gees (fantastic vocals), but this only spices up a great work of art.
You can listen to The Unlilely Event on the band's Bandcamp page or on streaming sevices. Do yourself a favour... check this album out.
