Jazz Martyrz are a Saxophne-Guitar-Bass-Drums Jazz Quartet. On Along Similar Lines they offer covers of songs by well known jazz musicians (Pat Metheny, Ron Carter, Tony Williams...) but also pop artists (Lennon-McCartney and Jimmy Webb), all this sandwiched by two original compositions by the band's drummer Paul Marangoni

Being a Jazz fan myself I must admit to being very interested to find out what these four guys could do with these pieces. I was not disappointed. These are all very nice versions of many tracks I already love, and the two originals do not feel at all out of place.

Ok, to be honest, calling this music ''Prog related'' or ''Fusion related'' is stretching it. Jazz Martyrs play jazz music, that's it. This being said, Along Similar Lines is a very good album featuring a group of very talented musicians. Not Prog, not Fusion, but very enjoyable indeed.
