The first track on Remnant by Medulla has a ''modern'' Canterbury Prog feel to it, in part because of Matthew Kennon's vocals that kind of sounds like Liam Magill's of Syd Arthur, but this does not last because the song quicly evolves into much heavier territories. Still Medulla share with Syd Arthur their will not to remain in a given style or genre. For example on Remnant we get a mixture of old style Prog with very modern, of very powerfull (Post Rock) with melodic and almost ambient...
To me Medulla's music exemplify what Progressive Rock should be, ''progressive'' not meaning here ''trying to recreate what was done in the seventies'', but finding their own sound without remaining inside boundaries.
Remnant is a very good album and fans of progressive bands like Amplifier, Anathema, Syd Arthur... should give it a try. It is available at the band's Bandcamp page : htpps://raig.bandcamp.com/album/medulla-remnant
Check it out. Good stuff indeed!!
