I reviewed Airbag's previous CD The Greatest Show On Earth (2013), an album I liked quite a lot and still occasionnally listen to. In my review I noted a strong Pink Floyd influence, also citing Anathema, but this done in a manner not close to being copy cats. In 2014, Bjorn Riis (the band's leader) put out an excellent solo album (Lullabies In A Car Wash) that was more melodic than Airbag while still remaining close to his main project's sound.

Two years later comes Disconnected. I was expecting that this album would show some change compared to the previous, perhaps influenced by Riis' solo project, but it is not the case at all. Disconnected is clearly the follow up to The Greatest Show On Earth. The Pink Floyd and Anathema influences are still present and to my ears, the new songs sound as if it they had been recorded during the same session as those of TGSOE.

This being said, Disconnected is just as good as TGSOE. All that I like about Airbag is there and there is not a weak moment on this very good record.

Still I cannot stop myself from hoping that these very talented musicians will offer us something a little more different on their next album. This won't stop me from enjoying Disconnected and fans of the band will certainly do the same.

Recommended indeed!!!
