Worn Out is my first contact with this very well regarded Danish Fusion band led by multi-instrumentalist Robin Taylor, a very busy musician indeed if you brouse the discography of his many projects found here on ProGGnosis.

The music on Worn Out can clearly be positioned in the Fusion camp, but it is also very diversified from track to track. Some of the tracks are very experimental (mostly in the second half of the album) and Frank Zappa, Soft Machine and even Miles Davis' Bitches Brew can come to mind (Jon Hemmersam' guitar solos havin John McLaughlin qualities at times). Other tracks are more melodic, and the frequent presence of saxophones may make you think of Jan Garbarek for example.

Great musicianship is the constance on every track. Worn Out is certainly an album that deserves multiple listens to truely reveal itself. The more adventourous listeners will find loads of twists and turns in this music to satisfy them greatly.

Worn Out by Taylor's Universe is an album that Fusion fans should seek out. Based on reviews of their previous efforts found on ProGGnosis, their back catalogue should also be of interest.
