Some stories are left unfinished. Sometimes the best part is what happens after the tale's end. Nearly a decade ago, Neal Morse released his landmark autobiographical progressive rock epic, Testimony. Now, he returns with an extraordinary cast of musicians to tell the rest of the story in Testimony 2.

Picking up where he left off on Testimony, the sequel begins with Neal in the mid-'90s when his band, Spock's Beard, begins to experience unexpected success. Neal sings about their glory days in "Time Changer" and the original band members join in. It's a vocal extravaganza in their classic style and an extraordinary moment.

The album goes on to tell of Morse's daughter, Jayda, being born with a heart defect. Her miraculous healing has an unexpected impact on Neal, with repercussions that reverberate throughout the album.

Morse goes on into later years, quitting his regular gig in the Eric Burdon band, and continuing with Spock's Beard. Along the way, he discovers something beyond his imagination. The album concludes with "Crossing Over," which describes his ultimate departure from Spock's Beard in 2002.
Neal Morse launched his solo career, the next year, with Testimony. With the sequel, Testimony 2, he dives deeper into unchartered musical and lyrical territory. Incorporating legendary drummer Mike Portnoy and brilliant bassist Randy George, this breathtaking album is a prog epic with breadth that dazzles and melodies that reach into the soul.

On the second CD, the songs include a 25-minute progressive rock epic featuring Steve Morse. In addition, the Testimony 2

Special Edition includes a behind-the-scenes DVD documentary about the making of the album.

After his break with Spock's Beard in 2002 Neal Morse released his prog-epic Testimony in 2003. A monument in prog.
Together with his longtime friends Mike Portnoy and Randy George he released 5 solo albums.

Now in 2011 Neal Morse releases the Testimony-2 album as a sequal with parts 6,7 and 8 to his Testimony story.

The album in 2003 tells the story of his life as a starting musician and the upcumming succes of Spocks Beard, his struggle to make it as a musician, the illness of his daughter Jayda, her healling and finding his feath.

To this story Testimony-2 does not continue but highlights the story with aditional songs. As in previous albums the magic trio play with oustanding skills.
Most remarkable is the use of themes from Part 1 as intro's or bridges in the new songs. This makes this album extraordinary in arrangements and into an epic, timeless, classic progalbum.

On june 3 i was at the Asta, Beek (nl) to see the Neal Morse concert with his 8 piece European band. It was only their second gig as a band but made me revive the legendary DVD-recorded concert i atendened in 013-Tilburg in 2003.

The Testimony-2 European Neal Morse Band:
Neal Morse: Vocals, keyboards, guitars
Kristoffer Gildenlöw (Pain Of Salvation, Dial, Lana Lane): Bass, vocals
Paul Bielatowicz (Carl Palmer): Guitar, vocals
Collin Leijenaar: Drums
Jessica Koomen: Vocals, keyboards, percussion
Ola Hedén (Flower Kings): Keyboards, vocals

Paul Bielatowicz, Collin Leijenaar and Jessica Koomen where also in the first EU-Neal Morse Band. The Testimony-2 concert started with Spock's Beard song and some songs from his previous solo work. After the break they played the full CD-1 of Testimony-2 album and the 26 minutes epic Seeds of Gold and as an encore the song King Jesus from One. Check out the tour dates on the website and have 3 hours of the best prog music in the world

The album has an interesting socond CD with 3 songs: the poppy Absolute Beginner, Supernatural (Beard like), and the 26 minutes Seeds of Gold with a solo of Steve Morse (Dixie Dregs, Deep Purple). Neal Morse' next project will be with Steve Morse, Mike Portnoy, Dave LaRue and Casey McPherson as MMPLM.

Testimony-2 is a great album and by far the best album in 2011.
