Not sure what happened here, but with Kowtow Pendragon went AOR similar to Multi-Story’s second album Through Your Eyes, with a defined pop sound and coming very close to Canadian band Eight Seconds in spots as well. Not that this is a bad thing, as I enjoy this sound to a point, but this is part of the problem for me when it comes to Pendragon. In this period they seemed to be all over the map and not exactly sure what they wanted to be. In hindsight they might have been under a good deal of pressure (self imposed?) with Marillion’s success, but in my opinion they should have stuck to their guns and explored the promise of The Jewel and their early tapes. Not a ‘bad’ album- just different.
