1974 LP
1974 LP Discreet DS4-2175

This album is credited to Zappa instead of the Mothers probably because it is a hodgepodge of overdubbed recordings from a variety of early sessions. The album most recalls the music of Over-Nite Sensations though there are fewer sexual overtones.
There are 9 individual songs in this very short recording which clocks in at just over 31 minutes.

Frank struck radio gold with the infamous "Don't Eat Yellow Snow" on this album, but the other songs on this album are what made this one of many Zappa fans favorite FZ lp, Frank was getting more involved with band interplay and extremely complicated compostions. He had an arsenal of huge talent on this as well, and set the tone for all FZ albums to come. If you are questioning the 'progressiveness" of Zappa, I challenge anyone to listen to "Father Oblivion" "St. Alphonsos' pancake breakfast", Nanook rubs it", or "Excentrifugal forz", and on the lighter side he adds some humorous tunes with stories attached in : "Stinkfoot", "Cozmic Debris" and "Don't Eat Yellow Snow", every song is very innovative, with excellent performances throughout, an essential place to start for and Zappa curious folks.
