Best known for his associations with Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, Roy Harper produced this, his best work after moving from the UK to California. Go figure? This is one of the finest progressive folk albums ever recorded with strong references to Zep and Floyd and with Jimmy Page and David Bedford’s involvement how could you go wrong? Four long tracks of deep and emotional music with Harper’s robust guitar playing, Stormcock is a masterwork of folk rock and fans of John Martyn’s Solid Air and Al Stewart’s Modern Times would do well to pick up this album. Classic.
