Morpho Nestiro is the fourth album of the Italian band IF and the first I had the chance to ear. This project is a perfect example of the faith needed of independent bands. They could do art, even if they are a little bit limited by the means at their disposal. However, I greatly enjoyed this CD.

Moreover, these concerns are tied to the main message of this concept album that denounces the consumer society and the big and mean new masters of the world. For instance, the song “You Need” questioned the imposed new meaning of life where consuming is being. In addition, the machine metaphor (or is it more concrete in reality?) is ever present on this album. We could ask, will it swallow us all? Their music is in itself a ray of hope.

First, their jacket cover is to the point (reminiscent of early prog jacket cover like Nektar), with is vegetal characters and the morpho butterfly, which is beauty incarnate. The leaflet contains the lyrics, and it's a good thing, we can meditate on it. The music is a kaleidoscope, a mix of many genres from pop to hard rock and symphonic prog to nearly experimental forms. The acoustic parts are very interesting, and it is a pleasurable listen overall.

I recommend it as a very good symphonic band effort. I will seek out their other CD, I think their music deserve it.
