From the Island of Crete, Ioannis Anastassakis has earned an international reputation with both his shredding and flamenco guitar work as well as his teaching credentials.

Ioannis Anastassakis studied music at athe American College of Greece and followed that by atttendiing the Musicians Institute (GIT) where he was hired as a guitar tutor, after graduation at the top 1% of his class. He completed an MA in Guitar Performance (Magna cum Laude) at the California State University.

He training has included teachers who read like a who's who of contemporary rock/fusion guitar heroes. He has take lessons from Steve Vai, Vinnie Moore, Marty Friedman, Paul Gilbert, John Petrucci, Frank Gambale, Kiko Loureiro, Greg Howe, Richie Kotzen, Brett Garsed, Joey Tafolla, Scott Henderson, Mike Stern, Jean Marc Belkadi, Darren Householder, Carl Verheyen, Ted Greene, Ron Eschete, Sid Jacobs and Joe Diorio.

Ioannis has performed and/or recorded with band members of Whitesnake, Dio, Deep Purple, Ozzy Osbourne, Elton John, Santana, Celine Dion, Sara vaughn, Tito Puente, Julio Iglesias, Tower of Power, Chick Corea Electric band, jeff Beck, Steve Vai Band, Badlands, Tribal Tech, and many others.

As a guitar solist/leader, ioannis has present over 300 solo recitals in Europe and the US and has been a soft after guest lecturer at server American Colleges and Universities. He has won numerous Classical and Flamenco guitar competitions.

His instructional materials are published by Mel Bay Publications and most of his instructional boods/DVDs have achieved best-seller status within months of their publication date. He is a regular columnist in Mel Bay's Guitar Sessions magazine.
