Born in 1970 in Montreux, Switzerland, of an Italian father and a French mother, Alex Carpani went to school with classmates Aaron Emerson, the son of Keith Emerson and the daughters of Chris Squire, bass guitarist of Yes.
In 1979 his family moved to Italy and actually I live in Bologna. He started to compose at 16 after having received a synthesizer from his parents.
In 1990 he founded a group named Gemini with another composer. They made two instrumental concept albums and some multimedia concerts with music, images, lights, transparencies and two female dancers. In 1992 Gemini disbanded and Carpani became a solo artist.
Graduating from a study of Musicology at the University of Bologna Carpani moved in the direction of music for films, computer music and sound engineering.
Since 2000 he has mainly focused on the following genres:
electronic music: he composed a series of electronic albums prior to 2005
music & poetry
- music for theatre
progressive rock: he has a series of progressive releases beginning with the demo 4 Suites. in 2005.
