Reviews

review by: Eric“Clic”- deditcato a Karlheinz Stockhausen reads the back cover of this album. Usually when one mentions Stockhausen, many music fans run screaming from what they believe is not music, but avant-garde mumbo jumbo. This is unfortunate, because the European electronic and progressive scene owes a great debt to Stockhausen’s early works which were years ahead of thier time as on the brilliant Hymnen from the mid-60’s.
Does Franco Battiato attempt to plagirize Stockhausen on Clic? No, but bits and pieces of the masters work can be heard throughout. The rock/ folk influences of Fetus and Pollution are gone replaced with avant-garde music that at times is very beautiful with female vocals weaving between keyboards, piano and spacey effects. Yes, there is that recognizable Italian edge to the album placing this and other Battiato works with Opus Avantra and Roberto Cacciapaglia, although Battiato seemed far more prolific.
Not for everyone, but recommended for those with adventurous tastes.
