Reviews

review by: NunoCan a Doom Metal Band become one of the references in modern progressive metal? The answer lies in every of the 10 songs in this album...
After some doom oriented albums, Anathema begun its notable transformation. The once ugly larvae cocooned into a beautiful black butterfly. If Eternity was the cocoon state of this band, this Alternative 4 was simply the flourishing of a great band.
10 powerful, emotional, fullmetaljacket songs, has if Pink Floyd had gone into metal wonderland and recorded new fixtures. Vincent Cavanagh has improved his vocals, he is now a grown singer. His voice is filled in grivance, even despair, but adds the emotional darkness that the music was already driving us to.
Music 1 is introduced by grand piano while Vincent lyrics point us to whats coming...
If Empty introduces an hard metallic edge to this album, with Lost Control the music returns to soft metal while emotions run wide with low down feelings carved in by Vicent. This music ends with haunting cello piercing our already fragile state of mind...yes, never listen to this if you are feeling down. Believe me, it wont help.
Re-Connect is another lesson in good taste music, with many rythm changes that can blow you off your chair.
Piano again...violin phantasmagoria...Vincent excelent vocals, and then the guitar and drum burst that grandiously opens Inner Silence till they turn into heartbeat...fading..., as this album is already flowing in your blood.
After floating in the void with Alternative 4, Regret states itself in your mind, as this is the most beautiful song here. Pink Floyd will cross your mind during this music, but Anathema goes beyond that, inposing (again) a variety of dark emotions while gracing us with really great music.
Feel & Destiny end this album as it begun...with fabulous good taste. Yes, you have figured out already that i really (really) LOVE this album...
All songs here are great, there isnt one song that is misplaced as this album is one whole feeling experience. Dark and beautiful, Disturbing, yet complete.
10 great songs, 10 trips into sorrow, 10 points out of 10.
