Reviews

review by: DBSilverWhen this album came out in 1976, following Minstral In The Gallery and preceding Too Old To Rock N' Roll it felt like a rip-off. Being a serious Tull fan at the time I had to buy this recording because it included a previously unreleased track - Rainbow Blues. Had the album not included this track I would have had no need to buy it since I had each and every other release in my collection. But I was young and a serious fan of the band and needed everything I could find by Tull - so the money came out of my wallet and the album became part of my collection.

As it turned out, Rainbow Blues is nothing special - (it is another Tull song which I suppose is special in itself) - so it resulted in a very few plays of the vinyl and then I disgarded it and went back to playing everything/anything else I had from this band.

A greatest hits package is not normally a product designed for the dedicated fan and this is true here. For the casual fan who wants a nice collection of Tull songs this album certainly fills the bill. It would have been greatly improved in value if the decision had been to replace Rainbow Blues with Bouree or Witches Promise. By including edits of Think as a Brick and A Passion Play MU is a surprisingly well rounded collection and because of this I consider it a highly recommended collection for the person who doesn't want to buy every Tull album. The bottom line is that is an excellent selection of the classic period of this great band.
