Reviews

review by: Rob Debut release by DAAL. Released by Mellow Records
Daal is project by keyboard player Alfio Costa and Davide Guidoni on drums.

Alfio Costa has contributed to the bands Prowlers, Tilion and the Colossus Project
Davide Guidoni has recorded with Gallant Farm, The Far Side and Taproban.
In this project they further on explore the skills as musicians and composers with help of an inpressive range of Italian musicians:
Fabio Zuffanti (Finisterre, Maschera di Cera), Cristiano Roversi (Moongarden, Mangala Vallis) and Alessandro Papotto (Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, Periferia del Mondo), Vincenzo Zitello, Laura Mombrini (Prowlers) and the younger brother Flavio Costa (Prowlers, Tilion).

The album is called; Disorganicorigami
A name that is imposseble to say it correctly in one time
That's the same with the music. Hard to like it in one time
Opening the album with
  • Holocaustica (2:32)
  • Siren opens song followed by powerfull double bass drum and synth-waves. Sirens for an allarm !! what do we get? which whay will this music go
    Followed by
  • Chimaira (6:21)
  • Synths with guitar riffs as instrumental Dream Theater tribute. If second song sets the standard it's very good
  • Mo(o)nS(o)n (6:15)
  • Electronics with tribal drums and violin. Strange song
  • Brain Melody (6:50)
  • Symphonic Rock song
  • The Dance of the drastic Navels pt.1 (14:24)
  • track with ambiant-fusion sax solo that turns into avant garde improvisation followed by electronic/sympho rock into Tangerine Dream ending. It has it all!!
  • Disorganicorigami (3:00)
  • Free style Jazz sax with samples and breathing.AHHHH
  • A Saucerful of Secrets (11:34)
  • Own interpetation of Pink Floyd's psychedelic-classic with female vocals
  • Children of our Dreams (2:26)
  • Electronics
  • Var Glad Var Dag (6:39)
  • Neoprog live song

There's no doubt: the musicians are excelent, well produced and recorded but i think it's all to much.

All Prog styles are included, FreestyleJazz-Rio-Electronic-Ambiant, progmetal some Neo classic. They can play it all.
