Reviews

review by: MJBradyExpect no new surprises from this release from the zany trio from Sweden, Freak Kitchen doesn't need to evolve or mutate from their trademark sound, the formula for what defines this band has been firmly established, and any variance or step away from tradition would be a sure way to cause an uproar among the bands' fans.  Already 7 studio cds strong, there really hasn't been a dull moment with any of the albums from what I have heard.

If you are not aware of this band, well, they are not a typical progressive outfit, yet considering the style of writing, the fun infused rhythmic chaos, and Mattias Eklundh's most unique guitar playing, they are something of an aberration apart from the hard rock genre that they could easily be mistaken for.  One has to take this band as what they are, which is a uniquely talented, quasi-genre stirred concoction like nothing else.
I really enjoy the band, and it is apparent that many others do, as they have been causing quite the stir at many of the events that they have performed at along the way.

Mattias has been getting his name out there in recent years having not only the Freak Kitchen cds to his credit, he also has two solo cds, and has been seen gigging with fusion dudes like bass-giant - Jonas Hellborg in the Art Metal band which also includes the Johansson brothers. Rather than try to review the bands music, my suggestion is to go ahead and go to the bands Myspace and crank up the songs that are featured there, personally, I love them, yet for some of our readers, well, they may have some issues with them, but definitely try them for yourselves.
