Reviews

review by: EricThis of course is the legendary Caravan debut, with more of a psychedelic feel than latter work and considering the year it was released this should come as no surprise. Still while this is not a ‘Canterbury’ extravaganza, for fans of early Pink Floyd and Soft Machine, there is much here to enjoy. Caravan is a delight from start to finish and there are signs of the sound the group would later develop, especially so on the jazzy Love Song With Flute which does bare a slight similarity to early Jethro Tull as well. Cecil Rons get’s a little strange, but Magic Man gets us right back into the psychedelic vibe wishing I could go back in time to the days of the ‘UFO’ and ‘Roundhouse’ clubs of the late 60’s.
A very nice period piece from what would become one of England’s finest progressive bands.
