Reviews

review by: MJBradyCompilation cd, not sure if this best represents this legendary bands very best, in fact when considering such a cd, I had to wonder what true Yes fans do not want to hear most of the bands work in the entirety of a full album, as many of their recordings are fairly epic in length.  But it had to happen, so, for the record, the only way this cd comes recommended is for someone who is entirely new to the band.

Here they cover both older and newer formations of the band, you can hear their earliest material, when they were a bit unrefined.  And of course the classic era, when they became the progressive rock icons of the 70's. And surprisingly the Trevor Rabin era is also represented here, so all the bases are covered. Except with Starship Trooper: Life Seeker/Disillusion/Worm (9:25) being the only song of epic length, kind cheats away from many of the band's most stellar and ambitious work.

A cd for completists or newcomers really, as any Yes fan would know, you really can't take some of these songs out of the context of the full work that they originated from.
