Reviews

review by: MarcAnathema is one of my favorite bands and I already own their previous two DVDs A Vision of A Dying Embrace (1997) and Were You There (2005). The first DVD features a band that was so different from what it has become, that they almost cannot be considered as the same group. This is not the same with Were You There , that features Anathema from only a few years back.

About half the tracks on A Moment in Time were included on Were You There . In my opinion the performances on A Moment in Time are not enough different to justify buying this DVD, even though the contribution by the Bacchus String Quartet does add an appreciated flavour to the music.

What does justify buying A Moment in Time, even if you own their previous, are the other 7 pieces but also the bonus material including four songs not offered on Were You There . Covers of Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb" and Fleetwood Mac's "Albatross" will be considered highlights by many.

A Moment in Time is a great DVD from an incredible band. Fans of Prog, Metal and of the band itself should not miss out on this one. A special edition also offers a cd of this great concert. If you are new to Anathema it would be an excellent place to start with them.

At the time of writing this review a brand new track from Anathema can be downloaded from their website...
