Reviews

review by: MarcMy first contact with Little Atlas was with their previous excellent album Surface Serene (see my review). Fans of that album won't be disappointed by their new effort Wanderlust. It is even better than it's predecessor and I consider it to be one of the best Neo CD of the last five years.

Neo fans, and I consider myself one, have not been recently overflowed by great numbers of good Neo Prog records. IQ, Pallas, Arena and a few others have put out some good music in the last few years, but that list is quite short and there has been a number of disappointments (Pendragon coming to mind). Wanderlust easily climbs to the top of the list of good Neo albums having come out since the beginning of the new millenium.

The material on Wanderlust is still pretty much accessible, but the musical parts are, in my humble opinion, even more interesting than on Surface Serene. It should be compared to the best music put out by bands like IQ, Pallas, Arena, but I insist, it is in no way derivative of these bands. The music on Wanderlust is very original, which is definitively not self-evident in the Neo field, a genre that does somewhat tend to repeat itself in a number of bands.

For lovers of Neo and good Prog in general, Wanderlust gets my highest recommendation.
