COMMENTS & REVIEWS

Many followers of the Swedish band The Flower Kings, may have found interest in this band because of Kaipa's involvement with the F.K.'s guitarist/vocalist/and principle songwriter Roine Stolt. Call this a rediscovery, but going back to this album allows you to hear the very direct influences of Stolt's progressive beginnings. Kaipa's music has many similarities to the Flower Kings, as Stolt's trademark guitars are all over this album. There are many vital differences also, and by no means are either bands clones of the other. Kaipa sang in their native Swedish language, so the band was content to be a national treasure, surprisingly how many Swedish bands there are now, and how few sing in their native tongue. Kaipa mixes romantic, and beautiful melodies, with progressive breaks. Nothing overly complicated, but very refreshing to sit back and fully digest. I have to admit that in a roundabout way, this music has some of the very foundational ingredients the Flowerkings are using, fantastic keyboard swells, many movements within the songs, beautiful melodies, and very inoffensive music overall. Well worth rediscovery, and considered by many to be one of the most important bands from the early Swedish progressive scene.

This is IMHO their best and their masterpiece. Not as progressive as before but the music is outstanding beautiful progressive rock in the same vein as Camel or Anyones daughter. After this album Roine Stolt (guitar) left the band and they did two more records, "Händer" and "Nattdjurstid" wich wasn't progressive at all. "Händer" was still good rock but "Nattdjurstid" was 80s poprock rubbish.
