Senza Nome is a band in the best tradition of the classic Italian school of progressive rock. Bands such as Le Orme, BMS or PFM come to mind. It is a shame that my Italian is so rudimentary. That implies that I will not be able to comments the lyrics and the poetic aspect of this work. My feeling is very good however! Their eponymous debut album is in my view remarkable. It navigates between prog and pop rock. This album is not a revolution, but a fairly good listen. This is certainly a promising band. BTW, this album has been self produced and it is of good quality.

"Illusioni di unanima lontana" (Dreams of a distant soul) begins interestingly this CD. It is a three parts piece (thesis - antithesis - synthesis) which shows BMS influences. For my part, it is the keys that I love most.

"Passi" (Steps) was inspired by The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupry. It is a good ballad, simply not memorable.

"Tumore" (Tumour) is by far the best tune on this CD. It is mainly instrumental and the musicianship is superb. If they could produce tunes of that quality for an entire album, it would be great. It demonstrates complexity and nuance which I appreciate. And I love the keys

"No sono mai esistito" (I was never born) has left me perplex. Maybe I dont get it, but I think that this piece is not as good as the rest of the CD.

"Ulisse" (Odysseus) is the second highlight of this opus. It is another quite long track (11:45) and it evolves superbly.

"Si la do" and "Sopra a un pensiero" (Upon a thought) close nicely this very good effort.

I almost forgot, the video of "Si la do" is simply...appalling. It seems to be a production at the level of a student prank. No artistic value in my view.

All in all it is a very convincing debut album. I recommend it for lovers of Italian prog. I think they may surprised us in the future.
