This is a repackage of the classic Peter Whitehead film Tonite Let’s all make Love in London, the definitive ‘Swinging London’ movie featuring the music of early Pink Floyd. With footage from the legendary UFO club as well as the epic ’14 Hour Technicolour Dream’ held at the cavernous Alexandra Palace, interviews with Mick Jagger, David Hockney, Julie Christie, Michael Caine and Peter Whitehead himself, its extraordinary document of what I feel was the most creative scene in the history of popular culture. Highlights include John Lennon taking in the festivities at the 14 hour…’ extravaganza, while his future wife who had not yet met was just a few yards away, and numerous shots of priceless Carnaby Street fashions as well as some creative ways to display the Union Jack on the female form(!).
The DVD package is housed in a beautiful gatefold sleeve and also contains a second audio disc of Interstellar Overdrive and Nick’s Boogie. I recommend this release to anyone who wants to understand what this London in the mid-60’s was all about (beyond ‘Austin Powers’) and you don’t have to be a Pink Floyd fan to enjoy the film making this an essential and necessary purchase.
