COMMENTS & REVIEWS

Only drawing tangents to the progressive movement, this Uzbekistan band has, nevertheless, been able to release a very good and solid album with Fobidden Lullabies.
Released by American label Neurosis, Flight 09 Base their sound upon bluesy and hard rock structures. While mastering the style in which they confidently design their sound, this band shows that they really know how to construct their tracks, filling them with a delicate sense of melody and, especially, a deep harmony in the interplay of the instruments.
If the opening track seems to anticipate a sort of so-so album, because of its straight hard rock composure, the fact is that from this track on, the album keeps an improving curve that leads the overall result to much higher ranks in what concerns quality of playing and the listener’s enjoyment.
Though not at all complex or concerned in surprising the listener with virtuoso displays, Forbidden Lullabies grants the listener with uncompromised moments of sheer harmonic lines and fruitful songwriting.
Though the evidence points to an obvious lack of monetary means to better produce the album’s sound, what was achieved does allow the listener to properly appreciate what the band is proposing here. And that is a good mood album, with great (melodic) guitar solos, competent singing and playing by all three members, and especially, songs that will surely satisfy those who, now and then, need a break from the more complex and attention grabber albums that abound in the Prog movement.
It seems obvious to me the reason why Vitaly from Progressor supports this band. Other than the fact they are from Uzbekistan, Flight 09 is a band that has the goods needed to deserve proper appreciation.
Recommended to those who feel good music does not have to be pure, complex Prog.
