One reason I like the Lion Music Label is for the surprises. I know that they have their expected releases from their stable of bands and artists, some of which I enjoy, and some not so. But as time goes by, they seem to always manage to slip some obscure band or artist into their scheduled releases that always surprises. In the past it was with cds by: Electric Outlet, Coste Apetrea, Lalu, John Macaluso, just to name a few. Well this time, it is this cd, from bassist Alberto Rigoni. who also happens to play with the band Twinspirits, a talented upstart progmetal band that features some of Italy's most exciting new talent. Yet I will quickly add that this debut solo cd by Rigoni is not anything like Twinspirits, or progmetal for that matter.
This cd contains a wide spectrum of music, from solo bass settings to more progressive songs. Each displaying the dynamic playing and writing skills of a young and exciting bassist in Rigoni, as well as a cast of equally talented guests, Rigoni's bass playing is very good whether doing funk, fusion, rock, metal or whatever, he is one who appears to draw as much of his influences from progressive music as he does fusion and has obviously dedicated his time to become a complete musician. This is a short cd, yet is a nice introduction to an exciting new musician who I hope we are able to hear more from in the near future.
