This is a band that I am certain will be on my radar (no pun intended) as time goes by, I can say at this point having heard this cd numerous times, that there is only one thing I don't like about it..............It's too short!!! But darn good.

It's obvious that naming your band The Bob Lazar Story, that you are not trying to attain some high level of popularity, and trust me, I had no idea what to expect when getting this cd from the band, as often times promotional cds are quite forgettable. But the band's name itself sent me a a wild Google journey enlightening me about such things as Area 51, UFO's, Lucid Bruce Music, and, well, even the likes of Bob Lazar himself, who, by the way, is not a member of the band, but a legendary physicist that was recruited to investigate certain alleged discoveries near Groom Lake, on the Nellis Air Force Range in central Nevada. Where after his involvement, Lazar spoke of 9 alien aircraft that were being held at the airforce base there, known as Area 51. Now, this cd is not about Bob Lazar, as they are an all instrumental outfit, so if you are curious about the subject matter surrounding the band's chosen name, I suggest Googling, and have fun, as it is obvious, that this band is all about having fun.

Now, about the band Bob Lazar, This is a great sounding band, they have everything most people like about progressive music, except of course, vocals, but when the music has this much intrigue the vocals actually get in the way. They have some funny inclusions of Zappa quirk, as well as some harder hitting progrock progressions, they appear to get solid musicians, and have every component to be a really special band. Which I believe they are, but again, this cd is more an EP, with 6 short songs, barely covering 20 minutes! It's quite a tease I must say, but you can get the cd from CD Baby as mp3 for a mere 5.00, which most fans of this kind of music would be happy to pay for.

Lot's of progressions, odd times, cute and quirky movements, and a humorous feel make this a can't miss band, I certainly hope that the members of the band are hard at work creating a follow up, and full-length recording to this, I saw that they have a previous recording, which I hope to get a chance to hear sometime. Anyway, check out the links to their myspace, and/or CD Baby to actually hear why I find The Bob Lazar Story to be such a promising newcomer for progressive music fans.
