You just have to give credit to this band! After a 4 year hiatus, they have released 3 albums in little more than one year. And if only considering 2006, The Sixth Sense is their second release, being the other - New Faust - a double cd…and one of the top ten albums of the year, for me!
Well, with The Sixth Sense things have gone in different directions and with different results when comparing to the true masterpiece that New Faust is…

While maintaining a completely symphonic philosophy, this album is way different from the other that this band has released this same year. It explores other classic influences, and it certainly explores other musical grounds. The result is still very curious and diverse, as some known neo-classic bases are transformed into modern sympho (just like in Dream), with the same ease that the band uses tipical Pink Floyd spacey parts (just listen to a starting section of Bird and notice the complete resemblances to DSotM’s Breathe ); a totally unexpected dive into some 80’s “Hair Metal” grounds in the tittle track…. Or even a small step into Neo-Prog grounds in Turkey. And this is just the tip of the iceberg.
Yet, and doing justice to their recent discography, the band is always able to use the mixed influences in a somehow groundbreaking and totally modern way, making the overall music not only strange but especially fascinating to the listener.
The album starts with 4 long tracks and is then brought to a smaller format in the remaining 8 tracks, in which the band adopts a slower and more accessible sounding.

Like always, this is a recommended album to those who like up-front, modern symphonic progressive. And though The Sixth Sense never reaches the same quality pattern as the absolutely divine New Faust, it is still better than most sympho prog albums that were released during 2006.
