Recorded live in Liège and Brussels, 2003
This album is actually the same album as Malign Siesta with a mixture of jazz and Zappa compositions, but here the band has added 3 additional tracks (all by Zappa) and renamed this when distributing it as a Limited Edition release.
COMMENTS & REVIEWS

The Wrong Object is a Belgium band that tributes one of the most undisputedly brilliant artists of the last 30 years - Frank Zappa. They do it with a very distinctive own sound, adding some tracks of their own, to strength their position as something more than just a cover band.
When I received this self produced album, in a CDR, my first reaction was one of skepticism, which lasted but a few minutes, the time to put the CD in the tray…

The most curious thing about this band’s sound is that they do tribute Zappa, that’s correct, but they do it with a very distinctive Canterbury sound. In fact, I find no better description for The Wrong Object musicality, than to call their style as Canterburian Zappa, if you get the picture.
There is the corrosive humor in the few lyrics (understandable lyrics, I must add, for some are not that understandable), so common in the tributed artist discography, but this album is mainly instrumental.
The true ability and virtuoso capacities of each and every band member is securely unveiled throughout the whole 11 tracks that this album comprehends. If the guitar occasionally tends to exaggerate a bit its soloing units, by virtually transposing the edge of its player capacity to play a million notes per second, it is also true that in most of the album, this instrument is played with confidence and skill, and even those “beyond reasonable” playing moments are pretty consistent with Zappa’s most lunatic experiments.
Then there is the metals section. And here there is not a single thing to comment except to say they are absolutely grand, brilliant and flawless. Both Clarinet and Sax (Soprano & Alto) are played with mastery, being the most notorious responsible instruments for that Canterbury flair the music unfolds.
There is an obvious liaison between all band members, for the interplay here is perfectly achieved. It is my guess that this liaison may be the result of the sharing of the same tastes in what concerns music leanings. When so, and when that common taste is joined by a true playing ability, all constraints and boundaries can be surpassed and the band is set to achieve great deeds. At this point, I can only expect greater things in this bands future.
Going back to the lyrical side, it is most represented in track 5, a special transmutation of Zappa’s King Kong song, with a clever and sarcastic view upon USA current president. A view that, truth must be told, is compatible with most Europeans…And unless you are a truly convicted and elitist Republican, you may find it funny as well. This in a track that catches The Wrong Object in its best mood, as they even throw a tune from “Sound of Music in the mix.
The few tunes of their own are still well under the influence of Zappa’s musical landscapes, though much more focused in those Canterbury leanings I’ve talked about earlier.

This is really an album that has much to offer to those who like Zappa, but especially for the Canterbury fans out there (even if you are Republican, eheh). The mix of these two essential components is extremely well achieved and results in a very refreshing sound.
An album that has truly surprised me, and that deserves to get my highest recommendation!
