Starting as a schoolband in the late 60-s Solution was called SOULUTION. As a sixpiece band the where Tom Barlage on flute and keyboards, Willem Ennes on keyboards, Louis de Vries on vocals,Gijs Jan Loot on drums, Adje Kooy on bass and Frits Lagerwerff on trumpet.

The transformation to Solution let  to a  four members band with Tom Barlage, Willem Ennes, Peter van de Sande (Bass) and Hans Waterman (Drums).

Releasing the debut album Soulution in 1971  Guus Willemse took over vocals and bass. Succes was with Gordon Blue that was recorded on The Rocket Label with Elton John's producer Gus Dudgeon.

Eventually the style of music started as fusion with the first to albums to a more poppy release with Runaway in 1982 that let to the end of Solution.

Seeing each other on a regular base  a reunion concert was a obvious step. In 2006 they played a taped to DVD concert in Amsterdam.

In 2011 Steve Hackett  used the Solutionsong 'Divergence' on his new album 'Beyond the Shrouded Horizon'

In 2012 founding member and keyboardplayer Willem Ennes died.
